I saw Gohatto in NYC, twice, and I was just as confused by the ending/murder of ugly samurai/attack of Yamazaki. It was said that in some regions/places, a different version was shown, where there was no voice-over of Kano greeting Okita and Kano screaming.
I got the Japanese version-DVD, with interviews with the actors. If I understand Japanese I might get a clue about the various unsolved mysteries.
Anyhow, my sympathy rests with Tashiro-san!
Forgot to mention, 武田真治 gives a good performance. He looks very good in samurai outfit but of course still not an equal to Ryuhei and Asano!

昭和年代長達六十年有多，當中的社會文化風尚變化，應該很有趣。
我正在看一些日本古代歷史的資料，特別是源平之戰，亦打算看源氏物語（讀書時看過部分chapters，連漫畫版都睇過，不過兩樣都沒有完成）。
五條靈戰記也重看了。

關於御法度~
(那些出名的open ending)
以下是我未經證實的推論:
1)Ugly samurai(Yuzawa)：加納所殺。
2)夜襲Yamazaki(加納的隊目)的人: 加納。
呢個有些騎呢,睇畫面,attacker的髮型/身型與田代相似;其後電影交代,現場遺下的小刀,是田代所有.
不過,到了田代/加納對峙一場,田代聲稱加納偷去他的小刀,故意遺留在夜襲現場.
兩個可能--
a)田代是attacker,他只是臨到尾講大話。但係佢又唔似會對加納講大話，亦無需要向加納講大話--都埋身肉摶,唔係你死就係我亡,仲駛搞咁多?
b)加納是attacker,他偷去田代的小刀,故意誤導Yamazaki.至於髮型囉喎,紮起佢咪得囉!
3)加納: 沖田所殺。
畫外音清楚聽到加納叫沖田,跟住一聲慘叫,畫面是土方（北野武）斬斷櫻花樹,一切盡在不言中。
4)加納真正喜歡的人: 沖田。
5)加納與田代是否lovers: 未知。
證據頗為混雜:
a)土方相信二人是lovers;
b)加納讓Yuzawa相信他與田代是lovers;
c)加納對Yamazaki說,自己沒有與任何人有親密關係,但他喜歡Yamazaki。
d)二人決戰時,田代對加納說:"You betrayed me." 之後加納不敵田代時,對他說:"Forgive me."
由此可見，二人關係應該比一般人親密。
不過，電影從來沒有展現二人親密的畫面，有的只是別人的傳言。唯一肯定的，是田代對加納一見鍾情，而加納對田代的advances表現冷淡及以刀相拒。
我想，加納和田代可能有過親密關係，不過只是短暫的，而且加納一直在利用田代（和其他人）對自己的慾念。
6)加納對田代耳語:
沖田相信加納當時說的是"their words in bed"。
根據網上討論的資料,大意是:"和我一起逃走吧!"

那個ｕｇｌｙ ｓａｍｕｒａｉ不是寺島進，寺島演的角色是接替加納跟縱擅闖新選組本陣並耻笑豆泥Samurai叔叔劍法差勁的兩個外人。
加納等不到寺島，後來在橋底發現寺島屍體，加納初嘗挫敗滋味，氣得不得了。
我也看過那個法文版片段。後來在哪裏看到一段有英文字幕的片段，其中一句是（龍平形容加納的性格）（大意）"He seduces them and then kills them."
買ＤＶＤ是因為我買的正版ＶＣＤ畫質太差，竟然偏綠色！你估我睇"Crouching Tiger, Hidden Draggon"咩！而且電影的關鍵場面都是夜晚發生的，ＤＶＤ出深色／黑色的層次點都好些！
貴是貴，不過我覺得值：）
